I was interested to see an ad on TV last week extolling the virtues of advertising on TV. When you see that ad and then think about the quote from David Ogilvy, of ad agency fame, who once said that “roughly 6 times as many people read the average article as the average advertisement. Editors communicate better than ad men.” Then think about what Bill Gates of Microsoft famously says of PR “If I was down to my last dollar, I would spend it on PR”.
Many companies are nearly down to their last dollar, or Euro. When the recession kicked in, were the Marketing & PR budgets cut? Was that the right thing to do?
It is said that the company who spends on PR and Marketing during a recession is well ahead of its competitors when the economy improves. Maybe it’s time to think about talking to a professional about your PR requirements? Maybe it’s time to think about how strategic PR can affect your bottom line? Maybe it’s time to talk about your requirements to a company that is focused on your business needs?
